Staff Student Forum

The Staff Student Forum seeks to create a space where the diverse student groups and staff of the various programmes in Department of Applied Social Studies come together to reflect collectively on the Department’s work and role. In addition to the Forum, each student cohort reviews at least every semester their engagement with Department and its offerings.

Objectives:

To create space for key internal stakeholders i.e., staff and students in the Department to reflect together in order to:

  • Ensure and enhance ongoing integration of the work of the Department with University & Departmental aims and strategy.
  • Ensure that the Department’s offerings continue to reflect their stated objectives, and that they are linked to the Department’s Mission Statement.
  • Explore possibilities for integration between different dimensions of Department’s work.
  • Explore suggestions for modifications, developments and new proposals.
  • Ensure that Department’s offerings take on board the changing societal context.

Each student class group is asked to organise for two members to participate on their behalf at the forum, with due reference to gender, diversity, geography and the overall make up of the group.

Forum meetings normally take place in October, December, March and May of each year.
